Why Are You Only Using 10% of ChatGPT? 9 Hidden Features That Will Boost Your Productivity 10-Fold
Most people use ChatGPT as a regular search engine. But there are nine hidden features that no one talks about: deep research, personalisation, custom GPTs, SORA, and canvas mode. These features will radically change the way you work.
Most people use ChatGPT as a regular search engine, but at best they ask it to write some text. At the same time, you have no idea about the possibilities that can radically boost your work, lifestyle, and productivity.
Right now, you're only using 10% of its potential, and in this article, I'll show you how to get the most out of it. It will be simple and easy to understand, even for beginners. We'll go through 9 levels, from basic and simple techniques to super-convenient systems. I'm sure the final two levels will surprise you the most.
Levels 1-3: Basic settings — from deep research to personal GPTs
Let's get started. Level one. Deep research. Let's begin with the main problem. ChatGPT often provides incorrect information because it tries to give you an answer as quickly as possible. The "Deep Research" feature solves this problem.
To enable it, click on the plus icon to the left of the text input field and select "Deep Research" from the drop-down menu. Now the neural network will use its full potential, analysing dozens of websites to give you the most accurate and detailed answer possible. For example, I'll write:
I want to choose a new bank card. Compare the top 3 offers for cashback at supermarkets, service costs and conditions for withdrawing cash abroad. Make a comparison table.
The neural network will ask clarifying questions, visit bank websites itself, study current rates, and provide a ready-made table for decision-making. In 5 minutes, you get an analysis that would take a whole day to do manually. Second level.
Personalisation. Everyone is used to ChatGPT talking to you as if you were a stranger. It doesn't know who you are or what style of response you prefer. That's why you have to explain yourself and ask for a different response every time you start a new chat. To fix this, go to your profile in the bottom left corner. Go to settings, select the "Personalisation" section and click on "Custom instructions".
This will open the control panel for your neural network. First, click "Enable for new chats" so that the settings apply to all your future dialogues. Let's start with the nickname field. This is so that ChatGPT can address you by name or your chosen nickname. The next field is what you do for a living. Here, we provide as much detail as possible. Not just a student, but a student programmer. I am learning Python. I need code examples and explanations of complex algorithms in simple language. The more accurately you describe yourself, the more useful answers you will receive. The next block is what personality ChatGPT should have. Here we configure its personality.
In this section, you can choose from ready-made styles. From the default style to a fan of their craft. Each style has its own character traits. Choose the option that suits you best. The next section is about what characteristics ChatGPT should have. Here you can further customise the chat's behaviour.
For example, use a formal or professional tone, be relaxed and talkative, and confident if there are several possible answers to a question, so that it tries to choose the best one. And the last key section is anything else ChatGPT should know about you. Here we enter our values and main rules.
For example, my main value is practical usefulness. Always offer solutions that can be implemented for free. Avoid complex theoretical explanations and fluff. Always respond in world, in an expert tone. Structure your response using lists. Explain complex terms using simple examples. Once you fill it out, ChatGPT becomes your personal assistant, tailored specifically to you. The third level is custom GPTs. Imagine that you have your own team of narrow-profile specialists available to you 24/7. That's what custom GPTs are. To access them, find and click on the Explore GPTs tab on the left side of the screen.
This takes you to the GPT Store, which is like the App Store, but for neural networks trained for specific tasks. There are hundreds of them here, and to help you find your way around, there is a convenient search bar at the top. Let's look at a few examples, starting with Canva.
Imagine you need to make a presentation or a post for social media. It used to take hours. Now look, I'm writing the task right here. Great. It immediately generates several options and provides a link to each one. They all open in your Canva account as ready-made presentations that you can go to right away.
It's convenient that you can easily edit it manually, but the chat does all the main work for you. But there is an important nuance. For Canva GPT to work correctly, requests must be made in English. Unfortunately, it does not yet understand Russian. Let's look at the second example – Logo Creator. Imagine that you urgently need a logo for your business, but you don't have the budget for a designer. Find Logo Creator in the search engine and describe the task to it. Look, in less than a minute, it has come up with several options, different fonts, and different compositions. You can choose the best one and download it immediately or ask it to refine the concept you like. A problem that used to take days and hundreds of pounds to solve has been solved. And finally, my favourite – Humanise. Its task is to take text written by any neural network and rewrite it so that it sounds as natural as possible, as if it were written by a living person.
Take a look at a typical response from standard ChatGPT on the topic of artificial intelligence development. Over the past three years, artificial intelligence technologies have made a huge leap forward. Multimodal models have emerged that can work simultaneously with text, images, audio, and even video. Generative neural networks have begun to create high-quality text, images, music, and code, which has given rise to new professions and tools. Dry, right? Very robotic. Now let's feed this text into Humanize.
I'll just paste it into the chat and see what comes out. Over the past three years, artificial intelligence has not just developed, it has really taken off. Multimodal models have appeared. These are models that can work with text, images, sounds and even video simultaneously. They can not only process, but also create. And they are getting better at it. They write texts, draw pictures, compose music, and write code. Can you feel the difference? The text has become alive, with colloquial expressions appearing. And most importantly, after such processing, artificial intelligence verification services cannot determine that the text was written by a neural network. It shows that it was created entirely by humans. It is simply an indispensable tool for students, copywriters, and anyone who submits texts for review. And by the way, don't be afraid of losing your work. Every chat with a specific GPT is saved in your main chat list on the left. You can always go back to it and continue working. Using these tools saves a tremendous amount of time and allows you to solve problems on your own that would previously have required a whole team of specialists.
Levels 4-6: SORA, Tasks, and Canvas — moving to a new level
The fifth level is SORA. We are moving on to paid levels, which require a Plus subscription costing $20. A ChatGPT Plus subscription allows you to generate videos in the SORA service. There are two main ways to access it. The first is to click on the SORA button in the left-hand menu. It is important to note that this button is only available in the web version of ChatGPT on a computer. You will not find it in the mobile app.
The second way is to go to the official website of the service. The link is available on our website. So, we have gone to SORA, and the most important section for us is the "Generation Window". This is where we will be working. Let's get straight to the practical side of things. For example, I have my own shop and I need a poster for a coffee shop.
First, I select the "Image" mode and immediately enter my request in English in the description field. I select the aspect ratio, for example 3 to 2, and the number of generations 2, in order to get several options at once and choose the best one. After that, I click "Generate" and in a few seconds we get a high-quality image that can be downloaded by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner. If you want to refine the result, there is an "Edit Prompt" button at the bottom. You can use it to change the description and get a new version. You can also easily create a video from the finished image. Just click the button below it, select the desired parameters, wait a moment, and get the finished result. Let's move on to the second example – generating a full-fledged video. Switch the mode to "Video".
In the input field, I write a more complex prompt, describing not only the image but also the movement. Now let's configure the video parameters. I choose a horizontal format of 16:9. I set the duration to 10 seconds and the quality to 720 pixels. Everything is ready. I click "Generate", wait about a minute, and get a finished video with movement, reflections, and the desired atmosphere.
The sixth level is Tasks. This feature helps automate everyday tasks. It is launched using the keyword "Tasks" at the beginning of the request. With its help, you can set up regular execution of certain actions with the desired frequency. For example, if you need to receive fresh news about artificial intelligence every day, it is enough to set the command "Tasks" once. Every morning at 9:00 a.m., collect the top news from the world of technology and prepare a brief 5-point summary. After that, the system will automatically perform the task, send notifications about the finished result, and provide it in your chat. This is especially useful for those who often encounter repetitive actions. Instead of wasting time on monotonous information searches or other routine tasks, you can assign them to ChatGPT and save hours of time each week. If necessary, notifications can be disabled in "Settings". To do this, open the "Settings" section. In the "Notifications" tab, you will find the "Tasks" section. Under it, click on "Task Management" and in the "Scheduled" section, select the task for which you do not need notifications. Click on the three dots and select "Pause" or delete the task completely.
Level Seven. Canvas mode. Tired of copying long answers from ChatGPT to other programmes to edit them? Do you constantly ask the bot to rewrite everything, even though you only need to change a couple of paragraphs? Editor mode solves this problem.
This is a new feature of ChatGPT that transforms it from a simple chatbot into a full-fledged text and code editor. To activate this mode, simply type the word "Canvas" before your chat request. As you can see, it's not just a notepad, but a powerful tool for working with text.
Canvas has two main modes, and it automatically selects the one you need. The first is a text editor. If you ask ChatGPT to write an article, blog or essay, Canvas will provide you with all the necessary tools. You can make edits yourself, delete unnecessary content or add your own ideas. This is not just a one-off response, but a full-fledged document that you can work with. The second mode is the code editor. If your request is related to code, for example, "Write a script in Python," Canvas will immediately switch to code editor mode. It features syntax highlighting, line numbering, and everything else you need for convenient programming. Today, we will look at the text editor option.
The coolest thing about Canvas is its smart hints. Just select the desired fragment of text or code, and a context menu with useful commands will appear. I'll tell you about them now. One of the most useful features is the "Ask ChatGPT" function. You can use it to edit text, clarify unclear points, or search for additional ideas. Just select the desired fragment and ask a question, and the system will provide an explanation or suggest possible solutions.
For example, when working on a term paper, you can ask the system to rewrite a paragraph in simpler language, make the text more formal, or explain a complex term. The "Suggest changes" function. ChatGPT will analyse the selected text and suggest how to improve it, as if it were your personal editor.
The "Perform final check" function allows you to check the entire text before completing your work. The system finds typos, grammatical errors, and stylistic inconsistencies, and then suggests corrections. This way, you can ensure that the final version looks neat and professional.
The "Adjust Length" button allows you to simplify a paragraph or, conversely, expand it in more detail. Drag the slider up if you want to expand the paragraph, and down if you want to shorten it. Then simply click on the arrow and Canvas will make the changes with just one click. The next feature is called "Reading Level." It allows you to change the style and complexity of the text for a specific audience. You can simplify the wording for a general audience or, conversely, make the text more academic and formal for students and professionals. This way, the same text can be easily adapted to different levels of education. And the last option is "Add Emojis." I use this to format text. Simply select a paragraph and the system will suggest appropriate emotions to make the text more expressive and vivid. Canvas is indispensable for people who work with text. It transforms ChatGPT from a simple generator into a tool that helps you edit materials, track changes, and maintain control over the entire process.
Levels 7-9: Gamification, earning money, and personalised learning
The eighth level is "Gamification of Routine." Are you familiar with the feeling when day after day turns into a routine, and your to-do list just keeps growing? When your motivation is at zero, and watching your favourite TV series seems much more appealing than important tasks. What if I told you that there is a way to turn your life into an exciting game? And you don't need to set anything up or learn anything new.
All you need to do is copy one text and paste it into the chat. Today, I will share with you a fully automated prompt that turns ChatGPT into your personal, strict productivity coach. For everything to work, you need to enable Agent mode at the very beginning, before pasting. To do this, in the new chat, click the plus sign to the left of the input line and select Agent mode. This is critical for everything to work as it should. Now just copy the prompt available on our website and paste it into the chat.
That's it. ChatGPT will do the rest. As soon as you paste the prompt, it will quickly set up your personal game. The system is fully automated and will guide you through the steps. First, the chat will ask you to list your daily habits and immediately assign them a reward in points. The more difficult the habit, the more points you get.
Then, in the same way, you will make a list of your tasks and goals for today, for the week, whatever, and also assign them a point value. Finally, you will create your own reward shop. You decide what to treat yourself to. Watch a film, eat something tasty, play a game, and set a price in points for each reward. When all this is ready, your game begins. Now your routine is a quest. During your working day, you simply write in the chat what you have done. For example, today I completed all my work plans and went to the gym. The chat will instantly calculate your points and update your balance. And then comes the best part. At any time, you can ask what you have enough points for. The system will show you your store, you choose a reward, and the points will be automatically deducted from your account.
It's very exciting and turns even boring tasks into an exciting process that is incredibly motivating. You can add new tasks and delete old ones at any time by simply writing the changes in the chat.
And finally, the ninth level: learning. Have you ever tried to learn something new but gave up halfway through? Were you overwhelmed by complex terms and boring textbooks and didn't know where to start? What if I told you that you could have a personal tutor available 24/7 who can teach you almost anything? Now I'm going to show you a prompt that turns ChatGPT into your personal learning mentor. And most importantly, you don't have to come up with anything yourself, just paste in the ready-made file with the prompt.
The prompt file is available on our website. Before inserting it, you must enable two modes: Thinking and Learning. First, click on the model selection at the top and select Thinking mode. This will significantly improve the quality of answers to any questions.
Then, to the left of the input line, click on the plus sign and select Study and Learning. This configures the neural network for educational tasks and gives it time for in-depth analysis to create the most effective plan for you. You have enabled the modes, inserted the prompt, and that's it. The neural network takes over from there. This prompt is fully automated, so just answer its questions. The chat will ask you what you need, what you want to learn, what your current level is, what your ultimate goal is, and how much time you are willing to devote to it.
Based on your answers, it will not just throw links at you, but will create a step-by-step detailed learning plan, broken down into stages and lessons specifically for you. It will explain the most complex topics in simple terms, as if to a child, give practical assignments and check them. It will not move on to the next topic until it is sure that you have really understood everything.
With this prompt, you can easily learn a new language, master an online profession, improve your grades at school or university, or anything else you want. You no longer need to Google where to start, just download the file from our website, activate the right modes, and get access to the smartest and most patient tutor in the world. Using all these features, you can turn ChatGPT into a universal tool for study, work, and everyday life.
FAQ
Question 1: Do I need a paid ChatGPT Plus subscription to use all these features?
Answer: No, most features do not require a paid subscription. Deep research, personalisation via user instructions, access to the GPT Store, and the use of custom GPTs (Canva, Logo Creator, Humanise), Canvas mode, Tasks feature, and all prompts for gamification and learning are available in the free version of ChatGPT. The paid Plus subscription, which costs £20 per month, is only required for one feature out of all nine levels — SORA for video generation. If you don't need to create videos, you can implement 8 out of 9 levels completely free of charge. For students, copywriters, and most office workers, the free version is more than enough to radically improve productivity.
Question 2: Do prompts for gamification and learning really work, or is it just theory?
Answer: These prompts are fully automated and really work because they use Agent and Thinking modes, which enable ChatGPT to perform multi-step tasks without your involvement. When you insert a gamification prompt, the system will guide you through creating a list of habits, assigning points, building a rewards store, and keeping score automatically. Your only involvement is to inform the chatbot about the tasks you have completed. The same applies to the training prompt: ChatGPT will ask all the necessary questions about your current level and goals, draw up a personalised plan, give you assignments, and will not let you move on until you have mastered the material. It works so well that many users are abandoning paid educational platforms in favour of this free solution. It is critical to activate the Agent and Thinking modes correctly before inserting prompts — without this, automation will not start.
Question 3: Can multiple levels be combined simultaneously for maximum effectiveness?
Answer: Yes, and this is the recommended approach for experienced users. The most powerful combination is: personalisation (level 2) + custom GPTs (level 3) + Canvas mode (level 7) + gamification (level 8). First, set up your custom instructions once — this is the foundation. Then use Humanise GPT to process all the text generated by ChatGPT so that it sounds natural. Work in Canvas mode for any long documents so that you can edit specific parts. At the same time, gamify your tasks to stay motivated. This combination turns ChatGPT into a full-fledged operating system for your productivity. The only caveat: Canvas and gamification are two separate chats that cannot be combined into one. Therefore, keep them in different tabs and switch between them as needed. All your chats are saved in the history on the left, so you'll never lose your work.
